I really appreciate your support in the preparation for the Trans Asia Energy Group’s 40th Anniversary Celebration with its theme “Harnessing the Power of a Dream” on September 8, 2009 through the formal launch of its Corporate Social Responsibility CSR Initiative “HELP EARTH” Helping Energy Literacy for Planet EARTH (See Attached Logo). This CSR initiative is part of the PHINMA Group of Companies’ mission “Life Can Be Better” .
A year ago we were tasked by Trans Asia Oil and Energy Development Corporation President , Dr. Francisco L. Viray to conceptualize and develop a unique and sustainable CSR program to promote clean and renewable energy. We have come up with the HELP EARTH Energy CSR Initiative as our contribution to our Vision :
“Trans Asia Energy Group envisions a better life for all its stakeholders through sustainable Energy Initiatives”
Our Mission is “To instill values and knowledge on energy and earth preservation amongst the youth through three core stewardships : education, environment and livelihood.
Our goal for the future entwines pioneering an energy education module through our HELP EARTH Program, to empower the youth in preserving the environment and make them able partners in decision-making processes toward sustainable energy development. It is our faith that that it is only the next generation that still can – and must be able to save our planet.
The inextricably linked challenges of energy security and climate change are the defining tests of our time. The actions and choices we make today will determine the state of economic progress and environment that we will leave for future generations.
Looking into the future, Trans-Asia Oil and Energy Corporation takes serious stewardship on environmental preservation and that shall serve as a guiding path in our energy investments and development initiatives. We have recently completed a Pre-Feasibility Study for a 54 MW wind resource farm to be set up at Guimaras Island in the Visayas.
As an initial step, the Primary activity of our HELP EARTH PROGRAM, is to donate HELP EARTH MULTIMEDIA CORNERS , composed of a TV set, DVD Player, Energy Related Books, Energy Experimental Kits relating to Wind, Solar and other renewable energy sources, and CD/DVD educational discs which will supplement the energy curriculum currently being taught in private and public schools in both primary and secondary levels.
Our primary targets are the schools which are beside the communities where our power plants operate namely : Bulacan, Guimaras and Calamba. We are currently collaborating with a dozen primary and secondary science teachers from the University of the Philippines in Metro Manila to lay the groundwork for initiatives to improve their curriculum for both energy education and environmental awareness. These initiatives and improvements on energy education modules will be cascaded to other member schools who might wish to join our HELP EARTH COMMUNITY.
For your information, the PHINMA Group of Companies PEN (Phinma Educational Network) owns and manages 4 Schools namely : Araullo University at Cabanatuan Nueva Ecija, Cagayan de Oro College, University of Pangasinan and University of Iloilo. The primary and secondary students of our PEN schools are being targeted to be a part of Trans Asia’s Help Earth Community.
The 10 sets of Pico Wind Turbine Kits and the Basic Solar Electrical Kits ordered from Pico Turbines are the initial batch of Energy Experimental kits which we have ordered will be donated to 6 schools which Trans Asia has adopted as initial beneficiaries of our HELP EARTH ENERGY EDUCATION PROGRAM. Thank you Gigie Penalosa and Michael Burghoffer in partnering with the Trans Asia Energy Group’s in celebrating its 40th Birthday in “Harnessing the Power Of A Dream”.
